A Collaboration between myself and Garcia

- Realm of a Dream Dimension -

This is a piece that has been worked a LONG time on.
Terrain from ~garcia and the spacework from me, done in photoshop only.
The orginal terragen render can be viewed here --> [link] (it's cropped down for saftey reasons) and had an original render resolution of 3000x4200.

This is done in a Greg Martin / Hameed style. It was really fun to try this different kinda way with the colouring than I usualy do. Also it goes well to :icongarcia:'s render excellent :).
This is made by brushing, manipulation, smudging, cloning - A big pack of fun =).

This is by far my best space work, I'v put in countless of hours gettin that nebula/sky to look like that and my wacom have been suffering heavy preassure daily hehe =).. Im really happy with the end result. Another piece is on the way as well, with a much better and awsome terrain from ~garcia.

For all of you who DON'T watch :icongarcia:, get yo ass over there now!

PSD size: 503 MB, yea 503!
Layers: 44 (endless if you count all the work besides the main canvas)
Work size: 3000x6000
Time spent: over 2-3 weeks

OMG MY SIGNATURE IS SO COOL

As I said , "Yea I used ALOT of reference photos as well as older nebulas from myself ". Those 2 combined and you get result like shown :D.

One things, and perhaps the only thing tahts a little bad about this piece imo is that since it's devided in so many layers they alone contain pretty high ammount of stars and colour. The colours blended together is just lovley but the stars can get a lill crappy I'v noticed now. Also when I'v added in more of my nebus even more things have been added :).

While we speak, the image [link] you did with Brent, how did u pain the neb like that, I love the swirly-dream feel to it sor of speak. How did u make it? just by drawing? teach ME!
Me personal I'm more of a draw a crappy ass base then smudge your sanity out over 'n over again lol.

haha. Stay away from smudge to start, I start working with bery soft lighting, and paint up some smooth shapes and start to develop form. Then start working in some shadows for depth, develop harder light, work in details, repeat. It's hard to share how to actually do it, it's just a matter of building up and rendering different forms, lighting, depth, colours.

HOLY HELL That's beautiful.....you've outdone yourself on that sky/space man.....:omg:........I've just been staring at it...I don't have the first clue of the process you use to make something like that, but it's fantastic. The colors...the stars....the gas.....man. The ringed planet looks like it could have life on it, like earth, being all green with bodies of water. Cool. ;)

Your friend did a great job on the terrain and textures too, especially the effect of the ground under the water. Great collab overall. Beautiful. :+fav:
