When using our eyes we see the world in a perspective, things are either in or out of focus, or mabye they can be out in focus...? Depth of field and focus is things we're blessed with through our eyes. My eye is my camera, whatever it can see so can I.
I wanted to take a shot of a flower from above but I was affraid to make it look so very boring since snappin' from above could be one of THE most boring ways to take a photo. Here I offset the blurred background with blurred foreground and focal range in between. I think the effect takes away from the perspective from above, that it actually works good as a photo alone besides the perspective neglect.
CS3 for framing/vignetting and typo.

It is true that flowers are a fairly standard subject but they're so facinating you can do so much with them. This looks almost like a space scene with the strange focus or like a deep sea creature no one has ever seen before. The end of the petels could be tiny clasps for capturing prey or the tips of a star burst. In the centre, a planet between you and the exploding star or the eggs about the be releaced into the water. It's amazing how something so small can mirror something so huge. It's like an echo of the long gone past when something huge struck the planet producing a star burst so massive that even now it can be seen in the life that lives there. Wonderful take on this, absolutly beautiful.

Whoa, the blur effect on the center of the flower makes it look like it's far away or something. You could do some op art on your photographs! xD And the flower looks cute and pretty. :3
